Commission Agreement — Terms & Expectations
The Twisted ZenStone™

1. Deposit (After Inquiry & Approval)
A non‑refundable, non-transferable deposit is required only after the inquiry process is complete and both the client and the artist have agreed to move forward with the commission. An invoice including the Commission Agreement - Terms & Expectations will be sent to the email address provided at the time of agreement.
Deposit amounts are fixed per tier and applied toward the final price.
-
Tier I ($77-$111) - $ 44 deposit
-
Tier II ($122-$188) - $77 deposit
-
Tier III ($222-$333+) - $133 deposit
Final pricing within each tier is determined prior to invoicing based on stone, materials, and design complexity.
The deposit is collected after:
-
discussion of the client’s intention
-
confirmation of the stone (see Stone Selection below)
-
review of photos/video of client‑provided stones
-
agreement on the tier and general direction
-
acceptance of the Commission Agreement terms
Work does not begin until the deposit is received. Payment is required within 48 hours unless otherwise agreed. Unpaid deposit invoices may be voided.
What the deposit covers:
-
material preparation (wire, beads, accents, structural components)
-
energetic alignment with the client’s stone
-
intuitive groundwork prior to weaving
-
the time invested in establishing the structural foundation
-
reservation of your place in the schedule
Stone Selection
Clients may:
-
provide their own stone
-
choose from current inventory
-
request a specific stone
Providing your own stone does not reduce pricing. Design complexity, materials, and time remain the determining factors. By submitting a stone, you accept all risk associated with its structural integrity during the creation process.
Requested stones may be obtained through trusted suppliers when available; availability is not guaranteed. Cabochons are not currently cut in house; lapidary offerings will be added in the future.
Final determination of stone suitability is at the sole discretion of The Twisted ZenStone™.
Client‑Provided Stone Requirements
A. Pre‑Shipment Documentation (Client Responsibility)
Clients providing their own stone must submit:
-
clear, well‑lit photos from all sides
-
a short video showing the full surface, edges, and any natural inclusions or fractures
These serve as the baseline condition record.
Stones will not be accepted without this documentation.
B. Arrival Documentation (Artist Responsibility)
Upon receiving the stone, The Twisted ZenStone™ will provide:
-
clear, well‑lit photos
-
a short video confirming its condition
Both parties must acknowledge the stone’s condition before work begins.
C. Liability for Stone Integrity
By providing your own stone, you acknowledge:
-
you are responsible for the stone’s inherent durability
-
The Twisted ZenStone™ is not liable for pre‑existing flaws, fractures, or weaknesses
-
some stones are naturally fragile and may not be suitable for wirework
-
breakage due to internal flaws is not considered artist error
-
you are responsible for understanding your stone’s hardness and wearability
You may research this using a Mohs Hardness Scale prior to committing to a commission.
If a stone is unsuitable, you may:
-
provide a different stone
-
select one from current inventory
-
cancel the commission (the deposit remains and covers time and materials already invested)
D. Commission Acceptance
-
Once the stone is confirmed and the commission details are agreed upon, the commission is considered approved by both the client and the artist.
-
The agreed tier and general direction are confirmed prior to invoicing and are not subject to change once the deposit is paid.
-
A formal invoice and Commission Agreement will be sent outlining the agreed tier range, deposit due upon receipt, and request for electronic acceptance.
-
The commission is not secured and work will not begin until the agreement is accepted and the deposit is received.
E. Final Documentation Before Fulfillment
-
Once complete, you will receive final confirmation photos/video for review prior to fulfillment.
-
No changes, revisions, or alterations may be made once work has begun or after final approval. Approval is binding and final prior to fulfillment. Upon electronic approval, the design, materials, and stated details are accepted as final.
-
If changes are requested prior to approval, they are not included in the original commission and may require additional fees and/or an adjusted timeframe. Approval will be withheld until any requested changes are resolved and invoiced.
-
Minor adjustments may be considered at the artist’s discretion. Requests that alter the structure or overall design are not revisions and will require a new commission.
-
Upon approval, the final price is confirmed and accepted. The remaining balance, after the applied deposit, is due prior to fulfillment. Approval constitutes agreement to the final price.
2. Creative Autonomy & Intuitive Process
-
All commissions are created through an intuitive, energy‑guided process.
-
The final design may evolve naturally.
-
Exact replication of previous pieces is not offered.
3. Communication & Updates
You will receive:
-
one initial intention message
-
one optional progress update
-
final confirmation before fulfillment
Additional updates are not included unless agreed upon.
4. Completion Timeframe
-
Tier I: 7–14 business days
-
Tier II: 14–30 business days
-
Tier III: 30+ business days
Timeframes begin once the deposit is received and all required materials are confirmed. Timeframes are estimates, may vary, and are not guaranteed.
5. Final Payment
-
The remaining balance, reflecting the approved final price, is due prior to fulfillment. The invoice will be emailed along with final documentation.
-
Failure to pay within 7 days may result in cancellation of the commission without refund of the deposit and the piece may be released for sale.
6. No Returns, Refunds, or Exchanges
All commissioned pieces are final sale once completed and approved.
7. Damage Claims
If a commissioned piece arrives damaged, the same documentation requirements as outlined in the Return Policy apply.
8. Artistic Rights
The Twisted ZenStone™ retains the right to photograph and share the piece for portfolio and/or promotional use including but not limited to website, social media, and marketing materials.
9. Agreement to Terms
By submitting a commission request and paying the deposit, you agree to all terms above.
