Sizing Guide — The Twisted ZenStone™

Ordering jewelry online should not be a guessing game. Accurate sizing matters, and customers are responsible for confirming their measurements before ordering. The guide below is here to help you choose as confidently and accurately as possible.

Ring Sizing

No tools like ring sizers or mandrels? No problem!

Three Sizing Methods:

  • Wrap a piece of string around your finger where the ring will sit

    • Mark or cut where it overlaps, lay it flat and measure in millimeters

    • Divide that number by 3.14 to get your diameter, then compare to a US ring size chart.

  • Grab a ring that fits the exact finger

    • Measure straight across the inside (side to side) in millimeters

    • Compare that number to a ring size chart

  • Visit a jeweler if you want zero doubt (recommended)

Keep in mind:

  • A ring worn on the right hand may not fit the same on the left and vice versa

  • Consider whether your current ring fits great, snug, tight, or loose

  • "It kinda fits" is not a size

  • Think about what can affect your size (see below)

Measurement Basics

Millimeters (mm) is the global standard for jewelry sizing.
One inch = 25.4 mm.

What Actually Affects Ring Size

  • Temperature Changes

    • Fingers swell in heat and shrink in cold

    • Size can fluctuate up to a full size

    • Always measure in moderate, comfortable conditions

    • *Measure when your hands feel "normal"

  • Time of Day

    • Fingers are typically smaller in the morning, larger in the evening

    • Measure in the late afternoon or early evening, when they're at their average size

    • *Late afternoon or early evening is "normal"

  • Activity & Lifestyle

    • Exercise, salt, travel, hormones - everything matters!

Ring Width & Size Adjustment

  • Thin Bands (1-3 mm)

    • Minimal contact with the finger

    • Typically run true to size

    • No adjustment needed

    • Least affected by finger size fluctuations

  • Medium Bands (4-6 mm)

    • Require sizing up by a half size

    • Creates more resistance when sliding over the knuckle

    • More contact at the finger base affected by size fluctuations

  • Wide Bands (7 mm+)

    • Often a full size or more above thin ring measurements

    • A wider band covers more of the finger and usually requires additional room for comfortable all-day wear

If using a thin ring as a reference for a wide band, plan to size up.

When to Size Up

Choose the larger half size if:

  • Your fingers fluctuate with temperature

  • You are between sizes

  • The ring must pass over a larger knuckle

  • You switch fingers frequently (I do!)

Important Do's & Don'ts

Do:

  • Measure multiple times over several days

  • Measure in the late afternoon or evening

  • Check your knuckle (seriously)

  • Think about the band width

  • Visit a jeweler if you want zero doubt (recommended)

Don't:

  • Guess

  • Measure cold fingers

  • Assume all rings fit the same

Bracelet Sizing

Bracelet sizing is simple:

  • Measure your wrist snugly at the wrist bone.

  • Add your comfort fit.

    • Snug Fit: + ½ inch

    • Comfortable Fit: + ¾ to 1 inch (standard)

    • Loose Fit: + 1 to 1¼ inches

Most Twisted ZenStone designs are cuffs with approximately 1 inch added for overlap; designs will vary.

Be mindful that while pieces may adjust, constant bending equals metal fatigue.

Necklace Length

  • Choker (14-16") - Sits at or above the collarbone

  • Princess (18") - Most common; sits just below the collarbone

  • Matinee (20-24") - Falls near the top of the bust

  • Opera (26-34") - Falls at or below the bust

  • Rope (36+") - Worn long, doubled, or knotted

Choker Tip (Do This Right)

  • Measure around the base of your neck where it will actually sit

  • Stand normally; don’t pull tight and don’t slouch

  • Add ½ to 1 inch so you can breathe

Final Check Before You Order

  • You've chosen the exact finger the ring will be worn on

  • You measured more than once (or went to a jeweler!)

  • You accounted for your knuckle

  • You adjusted for band width

  • You chose your bracelet fit intentionally

You’ll receive a photo of your finished piece on a mandrel confirming size before shipment.
